The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has issued a strong warning to proponents of the Biafra Republic to exclude Niger Delta communities and the South-South geopolitical zone from their secessionist plans.
In a statement by Donben Donyegha, PANDEF’s National Youth Leader, the group emphasized that the Niger Delta is not part of Biafra and assured that any attempts to associate the region with such agitation would be firmly resisted.
“The apex socio-political body of the Niger Delta is not part of the Biafra agitation. The continued inclusion of our communities in the so-called Biafra Republic is provocative and an insult to the leaders of the Niger Delta region,” Donyegha stated.
He warned that Niger Delta youths would strongly oppose any actions disregarding or undermining their leaders through provocative statements or publications by Biafra agitators.
PANDEF reaffirmed its commitment to the unity of Nigeria while advocating for resource control and federalism as enshrined in the 1964 Constitution. The group stressed the need for a Nigeria where all citizens have equal opportunities and states have autonomy to grow at their own pace.
The statement further highlighted PANDEF’s belief in a united Nigeria where sub-national units contribute to the federal government for national security, foreign policy, and territorial integrity.
PANDEF called on Nigerians and the international community to respect its position and cautioned agitators against including Niger Delta communities in their agenda.
This stance reinforces PANDEF’s dedication to protecting the region’s autonomy while promoting sustainable development and national unity.
