Edozie Njoku, a key figure in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has expressed his commitment to complying with the Supreme Court ruling that affirmed Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the legitimate National Chairman of the party. Njoku acknowledged the judgment, which validated Ezeokenwa’s position as the party’s leader, and stated that despite the decision not being in his favor, he would adhere to the ruling.
Njoku emphasized the importance of respecting the rule of law, saying that Nigeria must follow judicial orders, especially when issued by the Supreme Court, which holds the highest authority in the country’s legal system. He noted that the judiciary’s decision should be honored, regardless of personal discomfort.
This legal battle over APGA’s leadership has seen competing factions, with Ezeokenwa elected as chairman in May 2023 after a convention in Awka, while Njoku had claimed his election through a separate convention in Owerri. The ruling from the Supreme Court followed a previous Federal High Court decision and confirmed that Njoku was wrong in claiming the chairmanship.
Njoku’s statement on his compliance highlights a moment of resolution for the long-standing leadership dispute within the party.
