Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Monday launched the distribution of 100 trucks of food items donated by President Bola Tinubu to support residents affected by recent hardships. The food, including maize, sorghum, and millet, was distributed in Ngala Local Government Area, which had been severely impacted by flooding.
During the flag-off ceremony, Governor Zulum highlighted that the town had been cut off from the rest of the country for nearly four months due to heavy rainfall, making food supplies difficult to deliver. He explained that the distribution was aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by the people of Ngala.
Zulum expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu and the federal government for their support, stating, “All of the food items distributed today were donated to us by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The President has given us 100 trucks of assorted grains, including maize, millet, and sorghum.”
The governor also mentioned that the federal government had provided additional rice trucks for victims of the Maiduguri flood disaster. Looking ahead, Governor Zulum noted that the state would soon transition from food aid distribution to long-term solutions, such as the establishment of irrigation projects in resettled communities, to support sustainable agricultural practices year-round.
“These initiatives will ensure that people in Ngala and other affected areas can cultivate their land all year round,” Zulum added.
