A farmer, Adegoke, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police for allegedly beating a suspected thief to death in Odigbo Local Government Area. The incident occurred at the Mile 10, Ore axis when Adegoke confronted the suspected thief and his accomplices, accusing them of stealing his farm produce.
According to sources, the suspects, who were from the nearby Aba Tuntun community, had frequently stolen items from Adegoke’s farm, including cocoa pods, kola nuts, plantains, and even his motorcycle. After catching two of the thieves on his farm, Adegoke reportedly attacked them. One of the accomplices was hospitalized after the incident.
Police spokesperson Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya confirmed the arrest and stated that Adegoke’s wife had informed him of the theft, prompting his return to the farm where he confronted the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
