The Federal Government has dismissed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State, Ohieku Salami, for misconduct.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, confirmed that Salami’s actions, including unlawfully suspending the Vice-Chancellor and engaging in threatening behavior towards ministry officials, led to the decision. Despite interventions from the Ministry of Education to reverse the suspension, Salami refused to comply, prompting the government to take action.
The Ministry stated that Salami’s conduct undermined the university’s governance and stability, calling it unacceptable for someone in such a key position. Dr. Alausa has called for the appointment of a new Pro-Chancellor to restore order and ensure proper governance at the institution.
