Nigerian Navy Boosts Fleet with Three New Agusta Westland 109 Helicopters

The Nigerian Navy has acquired three new Agusta Westland 109 Trekker helicopters, provided by the Ministry of Defence to strengthen the force’s operational capacity. During the handover ceremony in Lagos, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Defense Ministers for their support in facilitating the acquisition. The helicopters are equipped for a range of operations, including VIP transport, air reconnaissance, search and rescue, and medevac missions.

These helicopters boast extended endurance, landing skids for enhanced load capacity, and auxiliary tanks, enabling flights up to 3 hours and 40 minutes.
