Asisat Oshoala, one of Africa’s finest footballers, has made an impressive impact in her first season with Bay FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The 30-year-old Nigeria striker helped the club achieve several milestones, including setting four records in her debut campaign.
Oshoala made her mark early, scoring Bay FC’s first-ever NWSL goal in their 1-0 victory over Angel City FC on March 18. She also netted the team’s first away goal in the league during the same match. Throughout the season, Oshoala was a consistent force, finishing as the team’s top scorer with eight goals, including a pivotal extra-time goal in the NWSL playoffs.
Despite Bay FC’s 2-1 playoff defeat to Washington Spirit, Oshoala’s individual performances underscored her status as one of the top strikers in women’s football. She also led the club’s scoring chart with seven goals during the regular season.
Oshoala, who joined Bay FC in January after leaving Barcelona, continues to cement her legacy as one of the most successful African female footballers. She has previously won titles with clubs like Arsenal, Dalian Quanjian, and Barcelona, and has been named African Women’s Footballer of the Year a record six times.
