NECO Examiners Threaten Nationwide Protest Over Unpaid Allowances

-

The National Examinations Council (NECO) examiners responsible for marking the 2024 students’ exams are preparing for a nationwide protest over unpaid allowances. After marking was completed three months ago and results released over a month back, the examiners claim most of them have not received their promised payment, with only a few reportedly compensated.

In a letter to NECO’s Chief Registrar in Minna, disgruntled examiners from Kano expressed frustration and circulated the letter to colleagues across states, giving NECO a two-week deadline to address the payment issues or face mass protests. They urged the council to act promptly to avoid further escalations, citing economic challenges and their dedication to the exam process.

Efforts to reach NECO’s Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, were unsuccessful, as his contact line was reportedly inactive.
