With the Ondo State governorship election approaching, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, also the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, pledged to govern with integrity and fear of God if re-elected. He made this commitment on Monday during a meeting with Christian leaders at St. David’s Anglican Cathedral in Akure, calling on them to pray for a peaceful election process.
The Ondo State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) responded by organizing a three-day prayer session, set to start on November 10, to invoke divine guidance for the state’s upcoming election. CAN Chairman, Rev. Fr. Anselm Ologunwa, commended Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to Christian values while reaffirming the association’s non-partisan stance.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Trade Union Congress (TUC) expressed support for Aiyedatiwa’s election campaign, citing his approval of a new minimum wage and ongoing initiatives for civil servants. TUC Chairman Clement Fatuase praised the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare, urging further efforts to enhance housing and agricultural opportunities for civil servants.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the governorship election for November 16, with anticipation building as leaders and community groups rally support and prayers for a fair electoral process.
