In a tragic incident, a commercial motorcyclist named Olusola Adetayo was found dead near his home in the Ogere area of Ogun State after leaving to buy medication for his sick daughter. The unfortunate discovery was made on October 16, according to his wife, Mobolaji Adetayo.
Mobolaji recounted that on the night of the incident, Olusola returned home from work and learned that one of their three children was unwell. Concerned for his child’s health, he left around 8 PM to purchase necessary drugs. When he failed to return after two hours, Mobolaji attempted to contact him, but his phone was turned off.
Growing increasingly worried, she and her children ventured out to search for him. They found Olusola’s lifeless body a short distance from their home, near a bush. His motorcycle, mobile phone, and a small bag he carried with him were missing. Mobolaji described her husband’s body as battered, with bruises and blood visible.
“I told the children we should go and check on their dad because it is unusual for him to stay out late like that,” she said. “When we got to a junction close to our house, we found his battered body.”
Mobolaji urged local authorities to apprehend her husband’s killers, expressing fears for her own safety and the well-being of her children. “I want the authority to bring the killers of my husband to justice because he is the only one I have, and he is the one taking care of our three children,” she stated. “I am scared to even stay at home because I don’t know if his assailants may come for me too.”
As of the time of this report, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, had not yet responded to inquiries about the case. However, a senior police officer confirmed the incident in a phone conversation, noting that the family insisted on burying Olusola’s body without allowing the police to conduct necessary investigations first.
“The incident happened close to Ogere. Police operatives visited the scene and requested to take the body for necessary action, but the family insisted that they want to bury the corpse,” the police source revealed.
