Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is set to miss approximately six weeks due to a hamstring injury, ruling him out of critical fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal. The 32-year-old Brazilian sustained the injury during last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace and was substituted late in the match.
British press reports indicate that tests have confirmed Alisson is unlikely to return until after the international break next month. His earliest potential comeback could be during Liverpool’s away fixture against Southampton on November 24.
During his absence, Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to step in as Alisson’s replacement. Kelleher, who missed the Palace match due to illness, had previously filled in for Alisson when he suffered a similar hamstring issue last season.
Following the win over Crystal Palace, Liverpool manager Arne Slot acknowledged the impact of Alisson’s injury, stating, “We have to wait and see, but it will be a few weeks before he’s back. I think it’s his hamstring. He’s clearly our number one, the best goalkeeper in the world. It’s always a blow when he’s injured, not just for him but for us as a team.”
Liverpool currently leads the Premier League with 18 points from seven matches, sitting one point ahead of defending champions Manchester City and Arsenal.
