The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, announced that two of the three Bus and Taxi Terminals currently under construction will be completed by January. Wike made this statement during an inspection of the ongoing projects in Abuja on Tuesday.
Upon completion, all bus and taxi operations will be redirected to these terminals, enhancing transportation management within the FCT. Wike expressed his satisfaction with the project’s progress, noting that the construction, which began in July, is on track to finish nine months ahead of schedule. The contractor has been tasked with delivering the Mabushi and Kugbo terminals by January, while the Eagle Square terminal is facing some delays due to unresolved underground infrastructure issues.
“We have resolved some problems concerning the Eagle Square terminal, and work is expected to commence there soon,” Wike said, highlighting the project’s importance in ensuring a secure and convenient travel experience for commuters.
The establishment of these terminals is part of the broader effort under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to address security concerns and improve transportation infrastructure in the capital. Wike emphasized that the new terminals are a critical component of this initiative, aimed at providing a safer and more organized transit system for residents of Abuja.
