Nigeria Customs Reaffirms Commitment to Anti-Smuggling Efforts

-

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reiterated its commitment to intensifying the fight against smuggling across the nation’s borders.

Speaking at the inaugural News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) International Lecture on Thursday in Abuja, NCS Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi highlighted the service’s efforts in combating the smuggling of arms and contraband at borders and ports. Adeniyi noted that these initiatives are yielding positive results.

He praised the event’s timing, aligning it with President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, which require a secure and conducive environment for success. Adeniyi also commended NAN for its role in supporting other media arms through its diverse offerings.

Addressing challenges in the media industry, Adeniyi emphasized the need for intervention to ease access to print materials, encouraging editors to support the president in this regard.

In a goodwill message, the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu, lauded NAN for bringing together security experts to propose solutions to insecurity in the Sahel region. He expressed optimism that the event would lead to homegrown solutions to ongoing security challenges.
