Danish forward Chido Obi-Martin has been promoted to Manchester United’s first team as their third-choice striker, behind Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund. The 16-year-old’s elevation was confirmed through a post by football insider Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday.
Obi-Martin is expected to gain playing time this season, a strategic move for Manchester United as they deal with their strikers’ underwhelming form. So far, Zirkzee has managed just one Premier League goal after six matches, prompting the club to explore additional options up front.
Obi-Martin first captured attention in November 2023 when he scored an astounding 10 goals for Arsenal’s U16s in a 14-3 victory over Liverpool. Last season, the Denmark under-17 international notched 32 goals in 24 youth team appearances for Arsenal and trained with the first team.
