The Federal Government is set to launch a strategy to position Nigeria as a key player in the global Halal economy, ahead of the Halal Stakeholders Engagement Programme bill on Wednesday. This initiative aims to diversify the economy by tapping into the $7 trillion global Halal market, which includes products and services adhering to Islamic standards.
Aliyu Bunu Sheriff, Special Assistant to the President on Export Expansion, highlighted that Nigeria, with its large Muslim population, could leverage the growing demand for Halal products. The initiative is projected to add $1.5 billion to Nigeria’s GDP by 2027, fostering job creation, foreign investment, and economic growth.
