Edo 2024: Police Will Remain Impartial, Professional, Says IGP Egbetokun

-

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has assured that the police will remain neutral and professional in the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial election on September 21, 2024. He made this statement in Benin during the signing of a peace agreement among political parties and their candidates, organized by the National Peace Committee under former military head of state, Abubakar Abdulsalami.

While candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and other parties signed the peace pact, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate declined.

Egbetokun reaffirmed the police’s commitment to a peaceful and secure election, calling for collaboration from all stakeholders to ensure a fair and intimidation-free process. He urged parties to promote peace and tolerance to guarantee voters a safe environment to exercise their rights.
