In a historic first for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the current administration organized a special send-off ceremony on Saturday to honor Management and Staff who retired between 2019 and the present. The retirees also received financial benefits as part of the recognition.
The beneficiaries included former Director of Competitions Mr. Bola Oyeyode, former Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria National League Mr. Lawrence Katken, and former Director of Finance & Admin Mr. Babatunde Akinsanya. Also recognized were former Deputy Directors in the Technical Department Dr. Robinson Okosun, Mr. Siji Lagunju, and Mr. Abdulrafiu Yusuf, as well as former Deputy Directors (Accounts) Mr. John Adelowo and Mr. Karim Bako, along with Mr. Sunday Okayi, Mr. Emmanuel Adesanya, and Mrs. Edith Uzoechi. In total, 20 individuals were honored.
NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi emphasized that the event was designed to celebrate those who had served the Federation with distinction and to send a message to current staff that their contributions will be valued and rewarded upon retirement.
“The present NFF administration is committed to recognizing and rewarding hard work, diligence, productivity, creativity, and enterprise. It is essential for Management and Staff to understand that the interests of the Federation, and by extension Nigerian football, are paramount,” said Sanusi.
He extended his congratulations to the retirees and wished them continued success in their future endeavors.
Babatunde Akinsanya, speaking on behalf of the retirees, praised the Ibrahim Gusau administration for its commendable initiative. He remarked that the administration’s efforts would positively impact every staff member upon retirement, whether due to age or years of service.
