The Edo State Government has strongly refuted allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council that Governor Godwin Obaseki intends to use the Edo State Security Network (ESSN) to rig the September 21 gubernatorial election. The government has labeled these claims as “a cocktail of complete falsehood.”
In a statement, Crusoe Osagie, Special Assistant to Governor Obaseki on Media Projects, accused the APC of attempting to mislead the public and divert attention from their own alleged plans to manipulate the election. Osagie suggested that the APC’s accusations were a smokescreen for their own devious tactics, asserting that the APC is trying to undermine the state’s security measures and shift focus from their electoral weaknesses.
Osagie criticized the APC for their persistent attacks on the ESSN, questioning their motives and accusing them of wanting to discredit a security network that has been effective in crime prevention at the grassroots level.
The statement urged the authorities to scrutinize the APC’s activities and ensure a fair electoral process. It called on the police, military, and other security agencies to work diligently to guarantee a credible election. Edo State residents were encouraged to vote confidently and without fear on the election day.
