Governor Peter Mbah has encouraged the youth of Enugu State to adopt technology and embody the virtues of hard work, courage, and empathy to achieve success. He made this appeal during a visit from participants of the Custos Care Foundation August Bootcamp, led by the governor’s wife, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, at the Government House in Enugu.
Governor Mbah underscored that success requires determination and the willingness to make courageous decisions. He explained that courage often involves knowing when to step back rather than persistently fighting. “There is no shortcut to success. The only barrier to reaching your goals is yourself,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of hard work, noting that greatness is determined by the effort and quality of work one puts into their endeavors. He stressed that achieving top grades and excelling requires dedication and a strong work ethic.
Governor Mbah also urged the youth to embrace technology, highlighting their advantage of being born into a tech-savvy generation. “While older generations had to adapt, you have the opportunity to equip yourselves with the skills needed for the future,” he stated.
Empathy was another key virtue Mbah encouraged. He advised the youths to be considerate and caring towards others, emphasizing that fairness and compassion are crucial qualities.
The governor commended the Custos Care Foundation for awarding scholarships to outstanding Enugu youth who excelled in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB. He assured the youth that his administration is committed to preparing them and future generations with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s world.
Mbah highlighted the government’s efforts to provide a solid foundation for future leaders, including setting up advanced laboratories in Smart Green Schools for learning skills in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mechatronics.
Earlier, Egodi Igwe, Executive Director of the Custos Care Foundation, explained that the August 2024 bootcamp, themed “Enugu Youth Aspire,” aims to empower, educate, and inspire the state’s youth. She noted that the program is designed for individuals aged 15-20 from all local government areas of Enugu State, with a focus on mentoring and equipping them with lifelong skills.
