Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Edo State, has laid out an ambitious vision for his potential administration, aimed at tackling poverty, enhancing security, and boosting economic development. During a recent Town Hall Meeting with Edo indigenes in Lagos, Ighodalo outlined his plans to make Edo a model of good governance through his manifesto, ‘The Pathway to Prosperity for All.’
Ighodalo emphasized his commitment to ensuring every vote in the September 21 gubernatorial election is counted and called for a fair electoral process overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and supported by security agencies.
His vision includes:
– Empowering Farmers: Ighodalo plans to provide substantial financial support directly to farmers to enhance local crop production and develop the medium and long-term production of cashew nuts, palm oil, and rubber. He aims to offer government backing to these key agricultural sectors.
– Addressing Poverty: Expressing concern over the rising cost of living, Ighodalo is determined to address these economic hardships swiftly upon taking office. He advocates for changing the socio-economic development narrative from the grassroots level to improve citizens’ quality of life and security.
– Enhancing Security: Ighodalo intends to combat insecurity by equipping federal security agencies with modern technology and resources to boost their effectiveness and tackle criminal activities.
– Economic Development: He proposes creating three economic zones in Edo to attract investment and encourage private sector involvement, with the goal of establishing a robust economy.
Ighodalo envisions transforming Edo into a leading state in economic development, akin to the progress seen during the First Republic. He also highlighted the need for fair and accurate media coverage ahead of the election and pledged to safeguard PDP votes through legitimate measures.
Through these initiatives, Ighodalo aims to recreate Edo as a prosperous and secure state, fostering growth and stability for all its residents.
