The federal government has urged aviation unions to postpone their planned protest over the deduction of 50 percent from the internal revenue of aviation agencies.
In a statement released on Friday, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, reassured stakeholders and unions of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to their welfare. Keyamo emphasized that Tinubu is deeply concerned about enhancing the aviation sector and is committed to addressing the unions’ demands to find a balanced solution that considers both the government’s fiscal needs and the operational requirements of the aviation agencies.
Keyamo appealed to aviation workers to remain calm and maintain industrial peace while the government works towards a resolution. He acknowledged the concerns raised by the unions, particularly regarding the impact of revenue deductions on investment, infrastructure maintenance, and overall agency operations.
The statement noted that the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development values the crucial role of aviation workers in ensuring industry safety and efficiency. It assured that the ministry is dedicated to resolving these issues while upholding high standards of service delivery.
