In a heartbreaking development, Nollywood veteran Mr. Ibu is said to have succumbed to his prolonged health struggles after a valiant battle.
The news of his passing surfaced through a viral WhatsApp chat shared on social media, where a healthcare worker revealed that Mr. Ibu had passed away at Evercare Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for several months.
Last year, in October 2023, reports emerged that Mr. Ibu, also known as John Okafor, underwent multiple surgeries and faced imminent risk of losing his legs. He made a public plea for financial assistance, highlighting the urgency of his situation. Sadly, despite efforts to mitigate his health challenges, he ultimately lost one of his legs to amputation.
Amidst misconceptions circulating in December 2023, alleging both legs had been amputated due to diabetes-related issues, his family clarified that only one leg was affected by blood clotting, not diabetes. Despite his resilient spirit and apparent recovery from surgery, Mr. Ibu’s health continued to deteriorate.
