Afrobeat sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is set to take center stage at the UnitedMasters Grammy Weekend Concert. Scheduled as a precursor to the 66th Academy Grammy Awards on February 4th at Crypto Com Arena in Los Angeles, the concert will feature an impressive lineup.
Joining Davido are Dominican rapper Tokischa and South Africa-based DJ Artist Uncle Waffles. The event is slated for Friday, February 2nd, 2024, at the Hollywood Palladium. Last year’s concert attracted over 2,500 fans and boasted appearances by Jay Z, Beyonce, Nas, DJ Khaled, Wiz Khalifa, Future, Damson Idris, and more.
Davido’s musical journey has reached new heights with the success of his comeback album, “Timeless,” accumulating over a billion streams. The album has also earned him recognition as a Grammy nominee, securing three nominations for Best Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Global Music Album at the 2024 Grammys.
Reflecting on his nomination, Davido emphasized the importance of persistence, especially considering that fellow artists Burna Boy and Wizkid have previously received Grammy acclaim.
In the midst of these triumphs, Davido faces controversy surrounding his relationship with Tiwa Savage. Tee Billz, Tiwa’s ex-husband, accused Davido of disrespecting his family and threatened to reveal more details after the Grammys. Tiwa, in turn, filed a petition against Davido, citing insults and threats following an Instagram post with Sophia Momodu. Sophia, Davido’s baby mama, also issued a cease and desist letter, alleging social media harassment.
Despite these challenges, Davido remains focused on his music and the upcoming Grammy Weekend Concert, where he will showcase his talents alongside other global artists.
