    CSNGG Congratulates Dr. Sanusi Mohammed on the Three years Elongation of His Tenure as NFF General Secretary

    The Civil Society Network for Good Governance (CSNGG) in a press statement by its President , Barr. Adefila Kamal congratulates Dr. Sanusi Mohammed on the well-deserved elongation of his tenure as the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), commencing from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027. He was first appointed in 2015.

    Adefila said, Over the years, CSNGG has had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Sanusi Mohammed, whose leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the development of Nigerian football have been evident in his performance. His reappointment is a clear reflection of his track record and the confidence reposed in him by stakeholders in the sports sector.

    The statement further states that Dr. Sanusi’s stewardship has been instrumental in fostering progress and stability within Nigerian football, including the growth of grassroots initiatives, improvement of national team performances, and the enhancement of administrative structures within the NFF. His leadership has provided a firm foundation upon which Nigerian football continues to rise, both on the continent and globally.

    The Civil Society Network for Good Governance said it has no doubt that Dr. Sanusi Mohammed will continue to give his best in this new chapter, as he has always demonstrated excellence, passion, and integrity in service to the nation. “We remain committed to partnering with the NFF and its leadership to ensure Nigerian football achieves greater heights”.

  • CSNGG Demands Action As Unauthorized Withdrawals Rock Nigerian Banks

    A foremost civil society organization, identified as the Civil Society Network for Good Governance (CSNGG) has condemned the growing trend of unauthorized withdrawals from customers account by staffs of banks in Nigeria, citing the recent ₦16.5 billion scandal involving Polaris Bank.

    At a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, CSNGG Vice President, Public Engagement personnel, disclosed to newsmen that Lord Mayor Onukogu Victor Obiajunwa, Founder and Leader of Living Christ Mission Inc. and Proprietor/Chancellor of Hezekiah University, Umudi, Imo State, had entrusted Polaris Bank with the substantial sum in a fixed deposit account. However, a significant portion was unauthorizedly withdrawn without his consent and no detailed explanation issued.

    According to the group, this incident is not isolated, numerous complaints have flooded in from citizens across Nigeria reporting similar unauthorized withdrawals from their bank accounts. It claimed that bank staff have exploited internal control lapses, taking advantage of customers’ trust and siphoning off funds while banks have been slow or negligent in addressing these breaches.

    Basah demanded immediate investigation and prosecution of those involved, urging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Nigeria Police Force to take swift action.

    “The banking sector’s integrity is at stake. We urge citizens to scrutinize bank statements regularly and report discrepancies. We remain committed to ensuring that perpetrators of these crimes are brought to justice and that Nigerian financial institutions uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and integrity.

    “An immediate investigation into the Polaris Bank case and broader unauthorized withdrawal cases, prosecution of individuals involved, recovery of stolen funds, stricter regulations and oversight, and public vigilance is necessary.

    “This breach of trust by Polaris Bank, and other similar cases that are emerging, threatens the stability of the financial sector and could erode confidence in the entire banking system.” He added.

    The group however, urged citizens to scrutinize bank statements regularly, report discrepancies immediately, and demand transparency from banks.

    Meanwhile, the growing trend of unauthorized withdrawals has sparked widespread concern, with many calling for urgent reform. The banking sector according to these calls should serve as the backbone of financial stability and custodian of people’s livelihoods not the other way round.

    The Civil Society Network for Good Governance (CSNGG) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Amaju Pinnick, former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), following his endorsement by the NFF Congress to continue serving on the FIFA Council. The endorsement came during the successful Annual General Congress (AGC) held in Asaba, Delta State.

    In a statement signed by the group’s National President, Barr. Adefila Kamal, the CSNGG praised the leadership of the NFF under President Ibrahim Musa Gusau and General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi for their steadfast dedication to the progress and stability of Nigerian football.

    “We wish to heartily congratulate Amaju Pinnick on receiving the nod from the NFF Congress to continue representing Nigeria on the prestigious FIFA Council. His leadership and international recognition have done much to elevate the profile of Nigerian football globally,” Kamal stated.

    Kamal lauded the successful conduct of the AGC, noting that it reflects the strong organizational capabilities and forward-thinking leadership within the NFF. “The smooth execution of the AGM is a clear indication that Nigerian football is on a solid path.     In a strong-worded statement, the Civil Society Network for Good Governance (CSNGG) has condemned ongoing efforts to destabilize Nigerian football through the orchestrated removal of Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). This comes at a critical moment for Nigerian football as the country faces crucial AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.

    The National President of the CSNGG, Barr. Kamal Adefila, described the plot as “a deliberate attempt by faceless individuals to discredit the leadership of Nigerian football and sow discord within the NFF.” According to him, “these actions are detrimental to the progress of Nigerian football, and we will not stand by while opportunists try to hijack the administration of our national sports.”

    Adefila noted that “the administration of football in Nigeria under the pragmatic leadership of President Ibrahim Musa Gusau with Dr. Mohammed Sanusi as General Secretary has not only prioritized stability but also introduced reforms that align with international best practices.” He listed several achievements under the current NFF leadership, including the modernization of administrative processes, the promotion of transparency, and significant strides in developing grassroots football and elevating Nigeria’s international presence in the sport.

    The Civil Society Network also called on all genuine stakeholders to work together toward preserving stability in Nigerian football. “At this juncture, when Nigeria is preparing to prosecute important AFCON and World Cup qualifiers, unity and collaboration are more important than ever. We urge all stakeholders to channel their energy toward supporting the team and ensuring success in these campaigns,” Adefila emphasized.

    The organization further warned those behind the plot to remove Dr. Sanusi to desist or risk being publicly named. “We are aware of the faceless interests driving this ploy, and let it be clear that we will not hesitate to expose them if they continue with their malicious campaign,” Adefila stated.

    He also called on Nigerians to disregard the falsehoods being peddled against Dr. Sanusi, stating that “these baseless attacks are nothing more than an attempt to discredit a man who has dedicated years to improving Nigerian football.” Adefila reiterated that while the NFF is not without its challenges, the current leadership under Dr. Sanusi remains capable and committed to addressing these issues and moving Nigerian football forward.

    The CSNGG also reminded those seeking to destabilize the NFF that the federation’s congresses are not political battlegrounds. “The NFF congresses are platforms for synthesizing ideas and plans for the development of Nigerian football, not arenas for political manipulation or personal gain,” Adefila cautioned.

    As Nigeria prepares for its upcoming football engagements, the CSNGG urged all stakeholders to rally behind the NFF leadership and support efforts to improve the country’s football sector. “We must remain focused on the larger goal—bringing back the glory of Nigerian football, and this cannot be achieved through division and infighting,” Adefila concluded.
