Afrobeats singer Spyro, known for his hit song “Who’s Your Guy,” has disclosed that he spends over N15 million annually helping beggars and those in need.
In a candid revelation, Spyro shared the constant pressure he faces as a celebrity, with fans approaching him both online and offline for financial assistance. Despite his generosity, the singer shared a painful experience where a stranger insulted him for not being able to give money at a specific moment.
On Instagram, Spyro expressed his frustration, saying:
“It’s really hard being a celebrity in Lagos. I told a guy I didn’t have anything and would see him the next day, but he insulted me. Every day I step out, I spend a minimum of N100k on gifts. If I go out three times a week, that’s N300k per week, totaling about N1.2 million a month and N15 million a year. Kilode (What’s the reason)?”
Spyro’s post highlights the often unseen pressures of fame and the emotional toll that comes with constant public expectations.
