Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has issued a strong warning to individuals and groups planning to visit the state without official notification, stating that their safety cannot be guaranteed.
In a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, titled “Notice Regarding Unscheduled Visit to Benue State,” the governor emphasized that he is currently occupied with high-level meetings addressing critical state matters and is not expecting any unscheduled high-profile guests.
Alia cautioned that any such visit, especially those that may lead to political gatherings or public assemblies, must receive prior approval. He advised potential visitors to reconsider their plans in their own interest and for their safety.
Furthermore, the governor directed that any individual or group intending to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in the state must first obtain written clearance from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).
“The public is to note that all individuals or groups intending to visit IDPs in Benue State must first seek and obtain written permission from BSEMA,” the statement added.
He called on security agencies and residents to take note of the directive and work towards maintaining peace and order across the state.
This announcement comes amid heightened political activity nationwide, with many states on alert over security concerns linked to unscheduled visits and public gatherings.
