Group Hails Ondo Electorates, Sanwo-Olu Over Aiyedatiwa’s Governorship Triumph

A pro-democracy civil society group has heaped commendations on the people of Ondo State for electing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as their leader and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering support in delivering the state to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
African Society for Democratic Advancement made this known in a congratulatory message to Aiyedatiwa, Sanwo-Olu, and the citizens of Ondo state in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Malachy Musawa at the weekend in Abuja.
Musawa praised the people of Ondo State for rejecting other political parties and reaffirming their trust in the APC while applauding Sanwo-Olu, who served as the Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the Ondo State Governorship Election.
He highlighted the unwavering support of Ondo residents for the APC, citing their performance in previous governorship elections, local government polls, and the presidential election that brought President Bola Tinubu to power.
“As progressives, you have stood by us through difficult times, and now, the good times are here because you came out in numbers yesterday, defying the hot scorching sun, and waited in the queues for hours to cast your ballot for our candidate, your Governor, Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami.
“We greatly commend the electorates for choosing light over darkness over darkness, the choice of the people of Ondo was a testament to trust in Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and a lot more prospects in the future.
“We salute Governor Sanwo-Olu who served as the South West Zonal Coordinator and ensured that the APC continued its winning streak and dominance in recent elections. Once again Sanwo-Olu has shown how much a great leader he is in galvanizing his region.
“We congratulate Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa on this well-deserved victory. While wishing him a successful tenure, we look forward to a more strategic partnership with his administration for the benefit of the citizens of the two sister states.
“Congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his exemplary leadership and for sanitizing the electoral process. Big congratulations to our party, the APC, and a big congratulations to the good people of Ondo State who have voted for continuity of good governance under APC”, Musawa stated.

Opposition no longer safe with recruitment of Osun PDP members into Amotekun – APM

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Osun State has raised concerns over the alleged recruitment of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the state’s Amotekun Corps, claiming it threatens the safety of opposition members.
In a statement issued on Friday, APM Chairman, Mr. Adewale Adebayo, criticized the recruitment process, alleging that non-PDP applicants were deliberately screened out. He warned that Amotekun, originally created to enhance security, was being turned into a political tool.
“We are disturbed by the protest by well-meaning Osun residents who applied but were deliberately excluded because they are not PDP members,” Adebayo stated.
He further alleged that over 1,000 PDP members had been recruited into the corps, describing it as an attempt to silence opposition voices. According to him, the recruitment exercise was merely a formality to cover up a pre-arranged selection process favoring ruling party members.
APM has called for the resignation of the Corps Commandant and Field Commandant of Amotekun, demanding an apology to the affected applicants and the people of the state. The party insisted that the security outfit must remain apolitical to maintain public trust.
Neither the Osun State Government nor the leadership of Amotekun has responded to the allegations as of the time of this report.
