Former Governor of Imo State, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Pascal Gabriel Dozie, the founder of the defunct Diamond Bank, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 85.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, Ihedioha described Dozie as “an Iroko from the East” and one of Nigeria’s most distinguished ambassadors, whose passing has left a deep void across the nation.
“Fondly called Nda Pascal by his people, he was not just a titan in the corporate world but also a pillar of wisdom, integrity, and quiet strength,” Ihedioha stated.
He lauded Dozie’s remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s economic and business landscape, citing his leadership roles as founding Chairman of Diamond Bank PLC, former Chairman of MTN Nigeria, former President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group.
“Beyond boardrooms and titles, Nda Pascal was a true elder statesman — a distinguished entrepreneur of rare pedigree, a mentor to many, and a beacon of excellence and humility,” Ihedioha said.
He noted that Dozie’s legacy endures through the institutions he helped build and the lives he influenced with his values and visionary leadership.
“We have indeed lost one of our finest ambassadors who put us in a positive limelight,” he added, offering prayers for the repose of Dozie’s soul and strength for his family and loved ones.
Dozie’s death has sparked a wave of tributes from across Nigeria’s business and political communities, underscoring the lasting impact of his work and character.
