Nigerian scrabble player Oluwatimilehin Doko, representing Ogun State, has become the youngest winner in African Scrabble Championship history at age 24. Competing in Kigali, Rwanda, Doko clinched the title with a decisive victory over fellow Nigerian Mumeen Jimoh, finishing with an impressive 25-7 record and 2,244 cumulative points.
Other Ogun State players shined as well, with Jimoh finishing fourth and current African Youth Champion David Ojih placing sixth. African Games gold medallist Adebisi Adekansi earned the runner-up title, further highlighting Ogun State’s dominance.
Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Wasiu Isiaka, commended Doko and his teammates, recognizing their potential as they prepare for the upcoming National Sports Festival, “Gateway Games Ogun 2024.”
