President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated a former Nigerian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Chief Arthur Mbanefo, on his 90th birthday.
In a congratulatory message, released by his Special Adviser, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Wednesday, Buhari joined Mbanefo’s family members and friends to celebrate the milestone.
According to him, the nonagenarian’s leadership roles in the public and private sectors have been remarkable and impactful.
The president said that Mbanefo’s performance attracted many recognitions and awards within and outside Nigeria and inspired confidence in the economy.
Buhari affirmed that as an adviser to many governments, Mbanefo, who also served in boardrooms, committees and investigative panels, left an indelible imprint on some of the notable decisions that shaped Nigeria.
He added that such decisions had assisted in creating strong institutions for good and corporate governance.
Buhari cited Mbanefo’s roles as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of Ahmadu Bello University, Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Lagos at different times.
He saluted the diplomat’s investment of time and resources in the education system in Nigeria, particularly his advocacy for skills development and entrepreneurship.
Buhari felicitated with professional colleagues and associates of Mbanefo, praying God to continue to strengthen and grant him good health. (NAN)
