Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze were among the first players to arrive in Abidjan on Monday for the Super Eagles’ camp ahead of their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic. The duo was joined by six other players: Amas Obasogie, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, Bruno Onyemaechi, Gabriel Osho, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
The Super Eagles’ media officer confirmed that at least eight players had arrived, with more expected on Tuesday. The full squad, including captain William Ekong, Ademola Lookman, and Africa’s reigning Player of the Year Victor Osimhen, will aim to secure crucial points in the final rounds of the qualifying campaign.
The team’s camp officially opened in Abidjan on Monday ahead of the match against Benin at the Stade Felix-Houphouet-Boigny on Thursday. Nigeria, currently top of Group D, needs at least one point from this match to secure qualification for the 2025 tournament. Afterward, they will travel to Uyo for their final qualifying game against Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Monday.
The Super Eagles lead their group with a perfect record of seven goals for and none against, thanks to the CAF Disciplinary Board’s decision to award them three points and three goals following a botched match against Libya.
