Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has received a stamp of approval from a pro-democracy group for demonstrating a strong commitment to developing a competitive public education system, ensuring that Lagos State schools rival the best globally.
The group’s Executive Director, Malachy Musawa, made this known in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos., while noting that the massive investments of Lagos Government in education is a sign of resilience to build a strong state and society.
Sanwo-Olu had during the commissioning of 12 blocks of classrooms at Ilupeju Community Grammar School, last week in Lagos, revealed that the government was working towards achieving competitive public school through its continuous investment in upgrading and providing modern school infrastructure.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, the governor noted that: “Education remains a cornerstone of our development agenda. The substantial resources we have invested in upgrading schools reflect our inclusive policy and our belief that our children deserve the best. Our vision is to develop a public education system that can compete with the best in the world.”
Reacting to the development, the African Society for Democratic Advancement thanked the governor for his commitment and practical steps that are changing public education in the state.
“We salute Governor Sanwo-Olu, and it takes only a man who means well for the people that is committed to education because as we all know it is the bedrock of the society.
“Our state will be greater for what the current administration is doing and all thanks to Almighty God for giving us a Governor like Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
