The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development (MWID), has intensified enforcement efforts at the Okunde Bluewater Scheme along Lekki Coastal Road. The operation, led by Commissioner Ekundayo Alebiosu, focused on removing illegal occupants and dismantling newly erected shanties in the area. Alebiosu emphasized that this exercise is a continuation of previous clean-up efforts and serves as a deterrent to those attempting to reoccupy government-owned land with unauthorized structures. He stated that such structures pose environmental and security risks and are inconsistent with the Lagos State Mega City Master Plan. The Commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to reclaiming and strategically utilizing the area for the development of a world-class Bluewater Scheme and coastal road network. He also noted that sustained monitoring and periodic enforcement would be employed to preserve the integrity of the cleared site.
