Security has been heightened at the National Assembly Complex in preparation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of lawmakers.
The budget presentation, initially scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, was postponed to Wednesday, December 18.
To ensure smooth proceedings, the management of the complex has instructed all business operators and service providers, including banks and food vendors, to remain closed for the day. Additionally, non-essential staff, visitors, and members of the National Assembly have been asked to stay home until after the budget presentation.
Only staff on essential duties with proper accreditation and a limited number of journalists are allowed entry to the complex.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, are set to preside over the joint session.
This will be President Tinubu’s second budget presentation to the National Assembly since taking office on May 29, 2023.
