The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has suspended Habibu Umar, the lawmaker representing Kirfi Constituency in the State House of Assembly, over allegations of insubordination. As of November 25, 2024, Umar is barred from participating in any party activities until further notice.
According to a letter signed by Samaila Burga, the PDP State Chairman, the suspension follows a query issued to Umar on November 5, 2024, for violating sections 58(9)(1) and (f) of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended). The letter, submitted to the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, confirmed that a disciplinary committee, set up on November 11, 2024, had found Umar guilty after a thorough investigation.
The committee’s recommendation for suspension was made in line with sections 59(4) and (5) of the PDP Constitution, effectively barring Umar from party activities until further notice.
In other news, former APC member Adamu Bello has rejoined the PDP, citing support from Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and his constituents’ desire for better advocacy. Bello, a former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and key figure in Bauchi North Senatorial District, said his decision to return to the PDP was driven by his commitment to representing his people’s interests.
