Eagles’ Striking Trio Ready to Face Benin and Rwanda in AFCON Qualifiers

-

As the Super Eagles prepare to face Benin Republic and Rwanda in the final round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, interim coach Austin Eguavoen is banking on the prolific form of Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and Ademola Lookman. The three forwards have amassed an impressive 34 goal contributions this season, each with eight goals, raising high hopes for victory.

The Super Eagles will meet the Cheetahs on Thursday at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Abidjan, before hosting the Amavubi at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Monday. Nigeria leads Group D with 10 points, and a win against Benin will secure their AFCON spot.

Benin’s coach, Gernot Rohr, has acknowledged the Eagles’ formidable attack, noting Lookman’s impressive form and recent CAF Best Player nomination. Lookman and Osimhen both scored in Nigeria’s last 3-0 win against Benin, and this game offers Boniface a chance to open his international account.

With qualification within reach, Nigeria’s trio is set to leave a lasting impact, sending a message to rivals across the continent.
