NNPP Condemns Kwankwaso’s Visit to Governor Otti

-

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has denounced former presidential candidate Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s recent visit to Abia State Governor Alex Otti. During an emergency meeting in Lagos, the NWC alleged that Kwankwaso’s November 9 visit was a “deceptive ploy,” likely linked to a recent Abia State High Court ruling that impacts the party’s structure.

The NNPP has been embroiled in internal conflicts, recently expelling Kwankwaso, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, and members of the Kwankwasiya group. A faction of the Kano State chapter also urged the governor to limit Kwankwaso’s influence. In a statement, NNPP National Publicity Secretary Abdulrasalam Abdulrazaq called any attempt by the expelled members to claim leadership within the party “irresponsible and an act of impersonation.”

The NWC urged Governor Otti to remain uninvolved in NNPP’s internal disputes, warning against any moves by Kwankwaso to destabilize the party. The committee accused Kwankwaso of trying to “hijack” the party for personal benefit since joining in 2022. The NNPP reaffirmed the independence of the judiciary and urged Kwankwaso to address grievances legally.

Reiterating Dr. Boniface Aniebonam as the Board of Trustees (BoT) chair, the NWC affirmed that Kwankwaso’s expulsion, ratified by a court order, is final, thereby restoring order within the NNPP.
