Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has cautioned Nigerians to brace themselves for greater economic hardship in 2025. In a statement on Friday, Ayodele highlighted that rising costs and increased taxes will make life even more difficult for citizens. The statement, issued through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, suggests the year ahead will bring challenges as Nigeria faces economic pressures.
Ayodele expressed concerns that unless the government takes corrective action, the national system may face a significant collapse, leading to growing public anger and even security risks for political leaders. He remarked, “From now till February, things will be harder. The government refuses to listen, and the consequences will intensify.”
Predicting further increases in fuel prices, Ayodele warned that tariffs on essentials like electricity and telecommunications will continue to climb, adding pressure to household expenses. He noted that while the recent minimum wage increase might offer temporary relief, its impact will be minimal in the face of mounting inflation, with the Nigerian naira’s value steadily declining.
Ayodele urged the government to consider his warnings as a call to action rather than a prophecy of doom. He advised citizens to prepare for hardship but stressed that action, rather than prayer alone, is essential to address the country’s challenges.
In his closing remarks, Ayodele cautioned that the economic struggles of 2024 may only be a precursor to the difficulties of 2025, and he warned of the potential for a famine situation. “Unless the government does the needful, Nigerians should prepare for tougher times ahead,” he concluded.
