Suspected bandits have abducted the district head of Kanya, Isah Daya, in an attack on his village in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The attack, which took place on Saturday, left one person dead, three others injured, and eight people kidnapped.
The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Sheriff Alhaji Almu. He also stated that a joint security operation, led by the police, is actively pursuing the abductors in an effort to rescue the district head and other kidnapped victims.
In response to the growing insecurity in the region, the Kebbi State Government has provided additional logistical support aimed at curbing banditry, particularly in areas such as Kebbi South and Zuru Emirate.
This attack occurred just days after bandits killed the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Suru Local Government Area of the state.
