According to a statement by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, the rescue mission was a collaborative effort between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Air Force. The operation successfully saved the lives of all on board, but sadly, Gwaza did not survive.

PSNASA, an organization dedicated to providing moral, emotional, and material support to the Nigerian military and other security agencies, highlighted the importance of recognizing and honoring the sacrifices made by those in uniform. The group called on the public to appreciate the courage and dedication of security personnel, particularly those who pay the ultimate price in the line of duty.

In a statement titled “PSNASA Mourns Loss of Lt. Commander Gwaza: A Hero Who Gave His Life to Save Others,” the organization commended Gwaza’s sacrifice as a powerful symbol of the dedication displayed by security forces across the country.
