Pere Egbi, a former participant of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), expressed his opinion on the deserving nature of past winners like Mercy Eke, Phyna, White Money, Efe, and Ilebaye during a recent appearance on the Celebrity Quickies show.
While acknowledging the lessons he gained from his time in the BBNaija house, Pere candidly remarked that Nigerians might not be adequately prepared for a reality show. According to him, voters who decided the winners displayed a narrow-minded perspective.
“My experience in the Big Brother Naija house was a rollercoaster. I had different encounters with different people, experiences that gave me something. Overall, it was good. But if I was asked to go back in the [BBNaija] House again, I would not. Simply because I feel Nigerians are not ready for reality TV. A bunch of Nigerians who actually vote for these guys in these shows in Nigeria, especially Big Brother, are just one-track minded,” Pere stated.
He added, “I’m being honest, if this was a South African or American show, I don’t think the people who won will.”
In a related development, Ike Onyema, an ex of Mercy Eke, and Pere Egbi were spotted together in a recent video, prompting discussions among fans. The duo, who both had connections with Mercy Eke during their time on the show, showcased camaraderie in the shared clip.
In 2019, Ike and Mercy gained popularity as a couple in the BBNaija Pepperdem season, and their relationship continued beyond the show. They even had a reality TV show together, highlighting their love story.
