Businesswoman Sandra Iheuwa recently disclosed the reasons for her separation from ex-husband Mr. Thompson, known as Royal Hair. In an interview with Nedu Wazobia on the Honest Bunch podcast, she cited the end of their marriage was due to Thompson’s expectation of her fulfilling traditional, domestic roles.
Iheuwa recounted a high-risk pregnancy incident when Thompson insisted she cook, deeming the demand unfair. She emphasized her inability to conform to societal expectations that portray women enduring hardships to be considered ‘good wives.’
Discussing challenges with Nigerian men, Iheuwa highlighted the importance of finding a kind partner, as some men expect undue suffering from their wives. She clarified her stance on such expectations, particularly when she was a successful CEO and businesswoman.
The interview addressed Thompson’s demands for her to cook despite having a paid chef, and he suggested she supervise the chef. Thompson also criticized her for not cleaning despite having a maid. Iheuwa found these expectations unreasonable, considering her professional responsibilities.
Addressing misconceptions about her personality, she clarified that she is not a troublemaker but asserted her right to stand up for herself when needed. She shared efforts to meet her husband’s expectations in cooking and cleaning, only to face accusations of pretense.
Reflecting on relationships, Iheuwa emphasized the importance of personal growth and well-being. She dispelled rumors about Ubi Franklin, stating he was a boyfriend, not a husband. Iheuwa advised women to move on from misbehaving men, expressing her focus on financial independence and enjoying life’s generosity in her ‘soft girl era.’
