    The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) has commended the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, for what it describes as a “remarkable display of leadership, vision, and national commitment” that has restored peace and stability to the state.

    In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its President, Chief Ogakwu Dominic, the group praised Ibas decisive and inclusive leadership style, which it said helped defuse long-standing political tensions and rebuild public trust in the state’s governance structures.

    “Through his forthright vision and uncommon commitment, the Sole Administrator has successfully neutralized conflict situations, restored harmony across communities, and stabilized the political landscape of Rivers State,” the statement read.

    CSGGG particularly noted the peaceful and credible conduct of the recent local government elections, describing it as a milestone achievement that underscored the Administrator’s competence and statesmanship.

    “Despite widespread doubts, the elections were held in an atmosphere of calm, fairness, and inclusivity. This success brought together divergent political interests and fostered reconciliation among previously polarized factions,” Chief Dominic said.

    The group also lauded the Administrator’s continued service to the nation, even after his formal retirement, describing it as an act of rare patriotism and national sacrifice.

    “His unwavering dedication to national assignments, even after meritorious retirement from service, reflects true statesmanship and a selfless devotion to Nigeria’s unity and progress,” the statement added.

    CSGGG further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it called a “strategic and visionary” appointment, made at a time when the state was grappling with political uncertainty.

    “At a time when decisive leadership was needed to calm the storm in Rivers State, the President acted wisely by appointing someone with the right credentials, experience, and political acumen,” Chief Dominic stated.

    He urged citizens and stakeholders in the state to rally behind the Administrator’s efforts and ensure that the hard-won peace is sustained through continued cooperation and dialogue.

    “Today, Rivers State is no longer a symbol of division, but a beacon of hope, unity, and governance done right,” the statement concluded.

    A foremost coalition of Civil Society Organizations based in Abuja identified as Civil Society Groups for Good Governance CSGGG, on Wednesday, warned well-meaning Nigerians and the general public at large to disregard and desist from indulging Mr. Jackson Ude, an unverified self made journalist, according to report.

    The group in a press release signed by its President, Comr. Ogakwu Dominic, revealed that Ude has overtime used his personal media platform to form defamatory opinions, and engage in a pattern of destructive behavior capable of tarnishing reputations of highly placed persons or those he feels are vulnerable in the eye of the public.

    According to the report, Ude had recently started a campaign of calumny and character assassination against the Director General of the Department of State Services(DG) Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi bothering on misconduct.

    The group reiterating the need to scrutinize sources of information before publication; buttressed that the allegation of misconduct on Alhaji Bichi is obviously the outcome of office grapevine and a total misrepresentation of intent.

    ” As Nigerians begin to get disillusioned with the anachronistic and biased journalism practiced by Jackson Ude, the Civil Society Groups for Good Governance, CSGGG, has urged all true patriots to be wary of his constant journalistic entreprise, calumny. Ude is a puppet of shadow parties that thrives on yellow journalism, blackmail and character assassination.

    ” A background check on Ude activities revealed and raised serious questions about the credibility of his accusations. This man has actively indulged in misrepresenting informations which is capable of tarnishing images and lowering the morale of performing public stewards. Bichi has committed all effort as the DG of the DSS in fighting insecurity and safeguarding the lives of Nigerians, he shouldn’t by any means be rewarded by weighty accusations without proof or evidence.

    “As a group, committed and actively involved in policy reforms, shaping public opinion and actively engaging public institutions and officials at all levels, we maintain that no amount of intimidation and coercion from politicians and paid hands will stop civil society organizations from defending credible institutions and officials who are excelling in their positions, or have contributed in the entrenchment and continuity of democracy service to his nation.

    President of the group, following a rather unprofessional and crude attack by Jackson Ude on CSOs in response to an expose of his sustained misinformation against the DSS and its incorruptible Director General (DG) Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi, OFR fwc, the group insisted that no amount of blackmail can bring the integrity of Nigeria’s number one spy agency to disrepute.

    “According to the statement, “Nigerians should know that Jackson Ude is a serial blackmailer who is not only paid to blackmail the DSS but any civil society organisations (CSOs) that rise to the defense of truth. He is clearly on the payroll of failed politicians who frustrated by the uncompromising stance of the DSS during last year’s elections have vowed to take their pound of flesh. However their insistence, such politicians will continue to fail as Nigerians are well aware of the great work the DSS is doing and the amount of pressure it is getting from desperate and failed politicians.

    “Nigerians should know that Jackson Ude is a serial blackmailer who is not only paid to blackmail the DSS but any civil society organisations (CSOs) that rise to the defense of truth. He is clearly on the payroll of failed politicians who frustrated by the  uncompromising stance of the DSS during last year’s elections have vowed to take their pound of flesh. However their insistence, such politicians will continue to fail as Nigerians are well aware of the great work the DSS is doing and the amount of pressure it is getting from desperate and failed politicians.

    “Jackson Ude needs to go to court if he has a genuine case against the DSS and its management as a responsible citizen and stop hiding behind baseless, sponsored, fallacious threats to carry out the wishes of his paymasters.

    “Let us reiterate that the extreme desperation, attempts by the fugitive journalist to cast aspersions on the integrity of independent CSOs, some of which are sponsored by international agencies will not be tolerated. Nigeria’s democracy has matured with formidable civil rights group who act as watchdogs and hold government institutions and officials accountable for their actions. Insinuating that these army of dedicated and focused Nigerians are compromised is a wallow card and just another typical strategy of a deceitful conniving blackmailer.” It added.

    The group, however, again called on well-meaning Nigerians to shun all forms of campaign of calumny and ntimidation sponsored to discredit very powerful and effective institutions of state.

    Austin Aneke’s treatise on A brief History of Impunity and Lawlessness by SSS aka DSS not only reeks mischief but exhibits all shades of ignorance or failure to acknowledge the role of the Service in safeguarding the Nation’s stability. Not many understand the role and relevance of the SSS in Nigeria and Austin Aneke is sure one of those who does not. Little wonder he displayed this ignorance in the piece he authored. At least, Aneka accurately stated that the SSS is organised, designed, programmed and weaponised to protect the State.

    However, the supposition that the agency oppresses the people it has a constitutional role to protect is indicative of the fact that he suffers from the Dunning-Kruger syndrome. It is worthy to note that the mission of the DSS is and has remained the protection and defense of the Federal Republic of Nigeria against domestic threats while upholding and enforcing the criminal laws of Nigeria. In the course of discharging this role, the DSS has constantly adapted to various functions necessitated by mitigating the evolving security threats including counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency in Nigeria.

    Unfortunately, Aneke’s understanding of lawlessness or impunity by the DSS is mostly attributed to operations conducted against his sponsors and those bankrolling him. Aneke and his likes are oblivious of the fact that democracy has indisputably provided veritable grounds for the rise of non-state actors, who under the guise of freedom fighters and CSOs, deploy subversive antics to disrupt and overthrow government. Some others, for pecuniary reasons engage in destructive activities with little consideration for its effects on national security.

    Though the intentions of these persons and organizations may on surface level seem people-oriented and friendly, they underneath bear well thought-out orchestrations to destabilize the Nation. It is for this reason that State agents are trained and equipped to decipher these threats and emplace measures to curtail them. How else can Aneke explain several coordinated attacks launched against security agents and sensitive government facilities by ESN that almost plunged the South East into a state of anarchy? Can Aneke explain what would have become of the South East in the hands of “Nnamdi Kanu’s BIAFRA” if DSS does not exhibit professionalism in handling security challenges? The weight and responsibility to ensure stability and internal security of the country falls on the DSS who must enforce its constitutional role to tackle threats that destabilize collective peace of the Nation. These similar tactics are adopted by the CIA, FBI, MI5-, FSB in maintaining stability of the country.

    Where was Aneke when the Agency’ tactical and strategic operations led to the arrest of top criminal elements and Boko Haram commanders including Kabiru Sokoto, Husseini Maitangaran, Khalid al-barnawi, Bello Danhajiya amongst others? Is Aneke aware that in February 2013, the DSS broke up a terrorist cell led by Iranian handlers that was gathering intelligence for future attacks on American and Isreali targets in the country. In its intelligence gathering efforts and prompt dissemination, records have shown that the DSS proactively shares proactive information on security threats with strategic partners both within and outside the country. For instance, publicly available information shows that the DSS shared prior intelligence on the 2011 bombing of an international facility in Abuja. The attack was said to be successful due to the failure by top officials to implement suitable safeguards.

    Other notable, operational successes including the arrest of Omar Mohammed Ali Rezaq, the mastermind of the 1993 bombing of an EgyptAir plane in the US is credited to the Services past leadership. The arrest and subsequent deportation of six Pakistani proselyters by the DSS in Benue and another itinerant preacher in Taraba state are evidences of its efforts to mitigate extremist ideology and fundamentalism in the country. What would have become of the South West in the hands of the run-away fugitive Sunday Adeyemo (aka Igboho) if DSS were not proactive?

    Despite these glaring successes recorded by the Agency’s Aneke and his cohorts continue to subject the DSS in what appears more like programmed criticism. It is however not unexpected as the DSS continues to amplify efforts to maintain stability of the country thereby making it unfavorable for their destabilizing businesses to thrive.

    For a discerning patriot to determine and suggest that the DSS regardless of documented milestones must be demonized is the height of unpatriotism. For any citizen, to even visualise the scenes that preceded #EndSARS protest and further suggest a re-occurence to buttress an imaginary brutal nature of the DSS only gives us out as people who draw wages from destroying the Nigerian entity.

    Curiously, Austin Aneke and his likes in the Diaspora are mostly responsible for disparaging the Nigerian government and its revered security institutions. Nigerians who live in Nigeria, who face the threats posed by imperialists, separatists and religious extremists are thankful to the DSS and other security agencies for their loyalty and sacrifices to country and citizens. As we pace towards a stable democracy and a system that runs on the rule of law, it is important for citizens to censor security agencies on the basis of fairness.

    Police investigate murder of DSS operative in Ekiti

    The Police Command in Ekiti State on Saturday confirmed the murder of a detective with the Department of the State Security Service (DSS) in a hotel at Ado Ekiti on Friday night.

    ASP Sunday Abutu, the command’s spokesman, who made the confirmation to newsmen, said the detective was murdered during an argument with some soldiers.

    “I can confirm we heard that the DSS operative was killed during a hot argument with some soldiers yesterday, (Friday) evening.

    “The deceased corpse has been deposited in the morgue and I can assure you that the perpetrators of the murder have also been arrested.

    “Let me also add that our detectives have started investigation and we will get to the root of the matter,” Abutu said.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident happened in Ado Ekiti on Friday evening as three soldiers allegedly killed DSS operative inside the hotel (names withheld).

    A reliable source told NAN that the incident occurred about 7.30 p.m. at the hotel located along NTA road in Ado Ekiti, where one of the soldiers allegedly stabbed the detective DSS on the neck.

    NAN gathered that the incident happened following the arrest of a suspected fraudster in the hostel.

    The source said “As the soldiers who were inside the hotel stopped the young man they suspected to be a ‘yahoo boy’ and started interrogating him, the young man saw the DSS operative on a bike and beckoned on him to come to his rescue.

    “When the DSS man got to the soldiers, a hot argument ensued between them and one of the soldiers became so angry that he drew out a knife and stabbed DSS operative in the neck.

    “The DSS man fell immediately and started bleeding. The people who are inside the hotel drinking began to run for dear lives. In fact they hurriedly fled the scene to prevent being arrested,” the source who pleaded anonymity said.

    The source also said that few minutes after the incident some DSS operatives stormed the hotel from nowhere and arrested the soldiers. (NAN)

    The Mahatma Ghandi Peace Foundation Nepal has said the strategic intervention of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) has nipped in the bud several issues that could have truncated the peace and unity of Nigeria.

    The Foundation in a statement signed by its executive director, Dr Richard Oduma explained that there was need for the Service to be encouraged so it can do more especially at this period of uncertainties across the globe.

    Consequently, the statement noted that the organisation acting on the recommendation of a civil society organisation, Save Nigeria Movement has presented an award of “Effective Crisis Management” to the Service based on its antecedents.

    The Foundation explained that it had to take serious the recommendation of Save Nigeria Movement considering its pragmatic efforts of championing activities that guarantee peace and stability of the nation through various interventions.

    “The organisation has noted the commitment of the department of state security service to ensuring the peace and unity of the nation under your leadership.

    “This award is only symbolic and we hope to hold the service to further task to continue to do more”, the statement noted.

    It would be recalled that the State Security Service has severally exposed plans of enemies of the country to cause disaffection and crisis. It has also played a leading role in sharing information and synergising the various security agencies in the country to enhance the peace and unity of the nation.
