A manhunt is currently underway for Jason Pass, aged 47, who shot and killed a father and his stepson in a Brooklyn apartment corridor after a dispute over noise escalated.
American law enforcement agencies are actively seeking Jason Pass, who fled the scene of the crime.
The shocking incident, where an enraged neighbor pulled out a firearm and fatally shot the victims, identified as Bladimy Mathurin, aged 47, and his stepson Chinwai Mode, aged 27, was captured by a security camera in the hallway.
In the footage, Pass, a resident on the third floor of 1418 Brooklyn Avenue, can be seen confronting his neighboring residents.
The security footage appears to depict Mathurin at one point holding a pair of scissors near Pass’s neck, while his wife tries to restrain him.
Shortly thereafter, Pass made an obscene gesture repeatedly before calmly exiting the building in an elevator.
According to the NYPD, Pass had filed six noise complaints against his upstairs neighbors since March 2022, primarily due to what he perceived as loud hammering on the floor.
Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny stated, “The noise complaints were essentially about people walking. The apartment above did not have carpeting, so footsteps caused these calls.”
The building’s management had received numerous complaints from both apartments, and they had promised to mediate the situation, but it was never completed.
According to the victim’s mother and wife, Pass had previously pounded on the ceiling, and in response, her husband pounded on the floor. After a few moments, Pass kicked their door, prompting the victim and his wife to confront him.
