The Amalgamated Civil Society Organizations of Nigeria (ACN) has raised alarm over recent demonstrations outside key government buildings in Enugu. Led by prominent locals, the protests demand the ousting of Hon. Ginika Florence Tor, the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State in the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Allegations against Tor include certificate forgery, misconduct, and anti-party behavior. Protesters accuse her of consistently undermining others for personal gain, notably citing an incident involving Hajia Muheeba Dankaka, Chairperson of the FCC. The demonstrators, largely composed of women groups and youth, are calling for Tor’s dismissal, arrest, and prosecution, citing her alleged involvement in various scandals and frequent run-ins with law enforcement.
Echoing these concerns, the ACN highlights Tor’s history of targeting individuals who supported her rise to prominence. They cite instances of her alleged insults and undermining of key figures such as Princess Ada Ogbu, Geoffrey Onyeama, and Hajia Dankaka. Furthermore, the ACN reveals allegations from the All Progressives Congress (APC) accusing Tor of anti-party activities and attempting to create a parallel executive committee in Enugu State.
The ACN deems Tor’s conduct unfit for a state representative and calls for her immediate removal. They urge the Enugu State Government to appoint a competent replacement to ensure effective representation at the Federal Character Commission.
