Nigerian content creator Yemi Elesho has disclosed that friends of Afrobeats singer Asake are expressing dissatisfaction over his apparent lack of response to messages.
In an interview with The Echo Room, Yemi Elesho highlighted that Asake’s acquaintances from his earlier days as an aspiring artist are disappointed by what they perceive as his neglect after achieving fame.
Elesho hinted at understanding the situation, acknowledging that Asake’s current social circle differs significantly from his past associations due to his newfound celebrity status.
Having attended the same institution as Asake, Elesho recounted how the musician, during his four years at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, relied on friends for accommodation due to financial constraints.
Given Asake’s rise to stardom, Elesho suggested it’s reasonable for him to prioritize interactions with individuals who align with his current status.
“Asake has attained significant prominence, and some of his old friends lament that he doesn’t respond to their messages. Personally, I haven’t reached out via DM because I understand he might not reply. He’s become quite prominent!
“He now associates with a different caliber of people, as he has become a prominent figure. He encounters new individuals daily, those with influence. Naturally, he can’t accommodate everyone,” Elesho remarked.
