Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu Survives Plane Crash Landing

-

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, narrowly escaped a tragic fate when the private jet he was traveling in crash-landed near Ibadan Airport in Oyo state.

The incident, reported by Daily Trust, occurred on Friday night. At the time of reporting, it remained unconfirmed whether Minister Adelabu or other passengers on board sustained any injuries.

The chartered aircraft, a Flint Short Aero HS 125 with the registration number 5N-AMM, had previously contacted the control tower at 18:56 to request an extension, which was granted by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

However, the aircraft landed short of the runway threshold by approximately 50 meters and skidded into a bushy ditch near the runway.

The incident unfolded after the Nigerian Metrological Agency (NiMET) issued a travel warning due to hazy weather conditions. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had also urged pilots and airline operators to exercise caution during the approaching dry season due to hazardous weather.

As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) had not released an official statement regarding the incident.
