In Nasarawa, Tiv people take decision to vote Tinubu, Gov.Sule, Hon Alkali, APC in general elections

As all is now set for general elections in the country with political campaigns at its climax, the ruling All Progressive Congress APC is getting more grounds as Tiv people in Nasarawa State said they have resolved to cast their votes for all candidates of APC in the forthcoming general elections.
Special Assistant to Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Political Affairs , Mr Peter Igbacher made their position known when he led Tiv people of Lafia North Constituency to endorse the candidature of Hon. Mohammed Ibrahim Alkali, member representing Lafia North constituency at the state legislature.
The Special Assistant said that they have decided to endorsed Hon Alkali and all APC candidates at all levels due to President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s developmental strides.
“we are here to tell the world that we the Tiv people has resolved to cast our votes to Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, Hon. Muhammed Ibrahim Alkali and all APC candidates at all levels, that is our position” He said.
Igbacher said that the turbaning of Hon Alkali as the Tsar U Tiv, meaning the bridge of the Tiv people of Lafia North symbolizes endorsement of the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the polls.
He appreciated the benevolence of Mohammed Alkali to the Tiv people of Lafia North Constituency while assuring Hon Alkali of their support beyond 2023.
Responding, member representing Lafia North Constituency, Mohammed Alkali, who was dressed with Ager, the Tiv most cherished cultural regalia, commended the people for endorsing his candidature and APC promising to continue his good works to the Tiv people and other people of his constituency.
Hon Alkali the Deputy Chief Whip of the House and Chairman House Committee on LG said that the ruling All Progressives Congresive has done well from national to the state levels and it would be wise enough if the Tiv people vote the party in all positions in the forthcoming elections.
” I want to call on you and other Nigerians to vote Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our APC Presidential candidate, His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, Sen. Tanko Al-Makura and other candidates of the party.
” This is for the progress and development of Lafia North constituency, the state and the country at large beyond 2023,” he said
Hon Alkali, the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs also promised to provide effective and sound representation if voted for another term come March elections.
It would be reported that Hon Alkali also received the representatives of Fulani community of Lafia North Development Area.
It would also be reported that since his victory at the court of appeal, member representing Lafia North Constituency has been receiving homage from political groups and social cultural organizations and the least is the Tiv people of Lafia North Constituency where he was turbaned as the Tsar U Tiv, meaning the bridge of the Tiv people of Lafia North in an event that had in attendance member representing Lafia Central at the State Assembly Hon. Abdullahi Dahiru Angibi and other party executives.

TCN Acknowledges 7th Grid Collapse in 2024
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported its seventh partial grid collapse in 2024. Despite the recurring issue, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, reassured the public that efforts to restore power are well underway, with about 90% of substations receiving bulk power.
Mbah noted that the Azura Power Station initiated the grid recovery, although a minor setback occurred. However, power supply has been restored to the Abuja region and other key distribution centers. The Ibom Gas Generating Station remained unaffected, continuing to supply power to the South-South region.
An investigation into the cause of the collapse will commence once full grid restoration is achieved.

Jigawa Tanker Tragedy: Shettima, First Lady Mourn Victims, Pledge Federal Support
Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion in Jigawa State, which claimed over 100 lives. In a statement issued by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, extended condolences to the affected families, praying for strength and comfort in their time of grief.
Shettima assured the public that the federal government is mobilizing resources to support the injured and assist those affected. He has directed the immediate deployment of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide aid. The Vice President also stressed the need for a review of fuel transportation safety protocols to prevent future incidents.
In a separate statement, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu offered her condolences to Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi and the people of Jigawa, praying for peace and comfort for the families affected. She called the incident “unfortunate” and extended prayers for the recovery of the injured and the repose of the souls lost in the tragedy.

Nigeria Customs Intercepts Arms, Ammunition Worth N9.5bn Over Six Years
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed that it intercepted a total of 10,598 pieces of arms and 114,929 rounds of ammunition valued at N9.58 billion over the past six years. Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, made this disclosure during a press conference on enforcement activities in Zone A.
Adeniyi highlighted that 60% of these seizures occurred in 2023, reflecting the Customs’ increased efforts to curb arms smuggling. He also mentioned that recent operations such as Operation Whirlwind and Operation Swift Sting are part of a strategic response to tackle evolving smuggling tactics.
In addition to arms seizures, the Customs CG announced the largest pangolin scale seizure since 2020, with 9,493 kg of scales confiscated in collaboration with the Wildlife Justice Commission. The joint operation led to four arrests across Kano, Kaduna, and Lagos. The NCS continues to intensify efforts against wildlife trafficking, targeting supply routes in northern Nigeria and border areas.
