Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has admitted that his team isn’t yet ready to compete for the Premier League title this season, stating that they are “far from the three best teams.”
Maresca’s comments came after Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 comeback victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Despite climbing to second in the table, Maresca remains cautious about their title prospects.
The Italian manager addressed the gap between his team and Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City, saying:
“Arsenal, City and Liverpool probably don’t slide…like Marc Cucurella did! To be serious, we are not ready, we are far from these teams. We focus on day-by-day and try to improve the team.”
Although they are in second place, Maresca emphasized that his squad must prioritize consistent improvement rather than focus on the title race just yet.
Chelsea currently sit second in the Premier League table, trailing only leaders Liverpool. Despite the high placement, Maresca remains grounded, prioritizing development over ambition.
With 2024 progressing, the question remains whether the Blues can close the gap or will continue to focus on building under Maresca’s leadership.
