A local security group, Yan Sakai, has successfully thwarted an attack by a gang of notorious bandits linked to leader Bello Turji in the farming community of Fadamar Tara, Zamfara State. The vigilante group engaged the bandits in a fierce firefight, preventing them from terrorizing the area.
According to Yakubu Ishiaku, a local resident, the bandits had planned to strike before the Yan Sakai swiftly mobilized to defend the community. Ishiaku explained that the region had long been under the control of the bandits until the formation of the local security outfit, which has since restored peace by confronting the criminals head-on.
The formation of Yan Sakai has empowered locals to protect themselves, reducing their dependence on the military and security forces. Ishiaku emphasized that the community now has the courage to fight back against the bandits, a shift from previous years when fear prevailed.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Yazeed Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
